Young and bold

young and established talent perform compositions by Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn

On May 21, you will absolutely want to be in the Dorpskerk. Young and established talent will gather that day to play well-known works by Tchaikovsky en Mendelssohn.

Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy himself was only 16 years old when he composed his Octet op.20. "Its youthful verve, brilliance and perfection make it one of the miracles of nineteenth-century music" - said Conrad Wilson about Mendelssohn's octet.

‘Its youthful verve, brilliance and perfection make it one of the miracles of nineteenth-century music’

All the more reason to celebrate and embrace young talent. Every year, we invite young talented musicians to join us in the Dorpskerk. This year we invited the young violinist Luca van der Waals (15 years old) to shine as a soloist in Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's melancholic "Méditation" op. 42 and virtuosic "Valse Scherzo" op. 34.
Is she the talent of the future that will still be talked about a few centuries from now? It just might be!

We are also delighted to welcome many international musicians from the Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio, and the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra.
