Ofer Canetti

Cellist Ofer Canetti was born in Israel. By the age of 20 he had performed in most of Israel concert halls and series and won numerous national prizes and grants. Besides his cello studies, he also studied composition, orchestration and early music performance in Israel, Germany and Austria. He had the privilege to get guidance, inspiration and support from some of the world's most acclaimed cellists and musicians such as Prof. Uzi Wiesel, Prog. Hillel Zori and Prof. Clemens Hagen. In 2010 Ofer held his debut recital in Carnegie Hall, New York. Since 2019 Ofer has been a solo-cellist of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra.

As a soloist and chamber musician he is regularly invited to perform with many orchestras around the world, in countless festivals and concert series, alongside many well-known international artists.
He also performs regularly as a guest leader with a wide range of orchestras and ensembles, including with the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the Salzburg Chamber Soloists and the iPalpiti Festival Orchestra in Los Angeles

From a very young age he has regularly performed and toured with his father, the violinist Robert Canetti, which led the path in discovering the art of chamber music. In 2011 he became a founding member of the prize-winning Testore Quartet. Four years later he joined the Aviv quartet for concert tours in Israel and Europe's most respected chamber music series, such as the Wigmore Hall's in London. From 2017 to 2019 he has been a member of the highly acclaimed Amar Quartet in Switzerland with whom he regularly performed at many festivals and venues in the world.
Ofer Canetti is also a very dedicated cello and chamber music teacher. He enjoys sharing his experiences during courses and master classes at universities around the world, such as the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, the Buchmann-Mehta school of music in Tel Aviv, the Conservatory of Ghent, the Conservatory of Prague and the Chamber Music Association of Zurich Universities.

In 2020 he became the artistic director of the annual chamber music courses “Masterclasses Haliaeti” in Izola, Slovenia.

He performs regularly as a guest principal cellist in numerous orchestras and ensembles, such as the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the Salzburg Chamber Soloists and the iPalpiti Festival Orchestra in Los Angeles. After live recordings at the Disney Hall in 2016 the “Los Angeles Times” named him a "superb cellist”.
