Marko Milenković

Marko Milenković was appointed Deputy Principal Viola of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra at the age of 22 and has held the position of 1st Principal Viola in the same orchestra since 2018.

Marko performs as a guest principal violist with the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, Camerata Bern, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Casa da Musica Symphony Orchestra Portugal, Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra, the German Chamber Academy Neuss am Rhein, and the Salzburg Chamber Soloists. He is regularly invited to play in the viola sections of the Camerata Salzburg and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

Starting from the 2024/2025 season, Marko will take up the position of principal viola with the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne.

Marko was a member of the Adelphi Quartet, with whom he won 1st prize at the prestigious Irene Steels-Wilsing Foundation competition at the String Quartet Festival of the Heidelberger Frühling, 2nd prize at the Wigmore Hall String Quartet Competition in London, and is a multiple prizewinner of the 12th International Competition "Premio Paolo Borciani" in Reggio Emilia (Italy). Before that, he had his first international chamber music engagements as a member of the Testore Quartet (Austria) and the Amar Quartet (Switzerland).

Marko is regularly invited to concerts and festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, Bayreuth Festival, and Rheingau Musik Festival, where he has performed alongside artists such as Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Valentin Erben, Sergio Azzolini, and Maxim Vengerov.

As a soloist, Marko has performed with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra and the Bosch String Soloists. He has also given masterclasses at the Haliaeti Masterclasses in Slovenia and the Royal Conservatoire Birmingham.

Marko embarked on his musical journey at the age of 6 in his hometown of Ćuprija, Serbia, starting with the violin. At the age of 14, he transitioned to the viola under the tutelage of Prof. Tomislav Milošević. Following his graduation as the top of his class, he continued his musical education under the guidance of Thomas Riebl and Lawrence Power.
