Marcel Sutedja

violin

I am Marcel, 16 years old. Violin is my passion. Every time I play my violin I get heartbroken.

I study violin at the Young Talent department 'Jong KC' of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, where I was taught by Koosje van Haeringen from 2012 to 2017. Since 2017 I have been studying with Kerstin Hoelen.

"Life is a journey, not a destination" which is why I always enjoy entering competitions/competitions, playing in multiple programs and participating in master classes.

Competitions/Competitions: Nederlandsvioolconcours 2022 (Semi-finalist Davina van Wely); Prinses Christina Concours West1 2020, 2021 and 2022 (2nd prize); Nederlands Vioolconcours 2020 Iordens (2nd prize); Superkids 2019 Talpa TV - SBS6 (1st prize); Grumiaux International Concours 2019 in Belgium (final); Ysaye International Music Competition 2018 in Belgium (1st prize); International Music Competition - Brussels Grand Prize Virtuoso 2018 (1st prize); Royal Concertgebouw Competition 2018 (final) and 2019 (semi-final); Britten Violin Competition 2018 (1st prize); Maassluise Music Week 2018 (2nd prize).

In July 2018, the NMF gave me the opportunity to play on a beautiful violin. The connection between me and this instrument is very strong, and together we are creating a beautiful musical adventure. I am very grateful to the NMF for the unique opportunity.
