In December 2017 Santa Vi\u017eine joined the violas of the Concertgebouw Orchestra. Since January 2022 she is first principal violist.<\/p>\n
Santa Vi\u017eine was born in Riga. She graduated from the J\u0101zeps V\u012btols Latvian Music Academy in 2011. The violist is a laureate of several Latvian and international competitions.<\/p>\n
From 2009 to the 2016\/17 season, she was principal violist of Gidon Kremer\u2019s chamber orchestra Kremerata Baltica. It brought the\u202fprivilege\u202fof working with such soloists as Martha Argerich, Mikhail Pletnev, Daniil Trifonov, Lisa Batiashvili, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Didier Lockwood, Mischa Maisky, Mate Bekavac and Sergei Nakariakov.
\nSanta Vi\u017eine has performed in some of the most prestigious music venues, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Vienna Musikverein, the Royal Albert Hall in London, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Sydney Opera House and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. Festival appearances include the Lockenhaus festival, the Wiener Festwochen,\u202fLa Folle Journ\u00e9e in Nantes, the Enescu Festival in Bucharest and Chamber Music Connects the World in Kronberg, Germany, where she played alongside Kim Kashkashian, Steven Isserlis, Christian Tetzlaff and Gidon Kremer.<\/p>\n
As a soloist Santa Vi\u017eine has performed with Sinfonia Concertante and Kremerata Baltica. She has also played with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, the Gothenburg Symphony and Sinfonietta Riga.<\/p>\n
